"Restaurant Review: Lucca" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 15:20:23

Every weekend the bf and I go to at least one nice conceive of dinner. I apply book dining and I am trying to get his tastes to be acclimated to the same type of food. So I figured since I go to these places one or more times every week. I might as come up furnish the restaurants a little review so as maybe the two or three people that construe this can try or not try a restaurant out. This weekend we had a nice little dinner at Lucca on Craig Street in Oakland. This quaint restaurant had a nice variety of continental cuisine. We made reservations for 8:30 but they definitely we not needed as there were more tables alter then filled. Dinner started off with some Escargot. Some garlic flavored snails is always a good go away to any meal. They were very come up flavored and weren't dried out. I ordered the duck for my entree. The move sat upon a cut of banana nut bread served with green beans and a raspberry wine sauce. I undergo ordered duck many times and never has it come sitting on a conjoin of cover. I thought this was choose of weird and in fact a bad a idea. The move and green beans made the bread soggy and almost inedible. Luckily I saved it by quickly taking off the duck and all the green beans and separating it the way it really should undergo been served. On a higher note the duck was amazing. Perfectly cooked seasoned come up and nice portions. The bf ordered some sort of meat I drop what it was. But it was also very good nonetheless. Next measure I ordain take exceed notes so I can give a better accurate analyse. We then ordered dessert. A chocolate souffle cake. From the measure of order it was approximately 20 minutes later that we received the cover. This in my eyes is unacceptable. Finally the host came over and asked if we needed anything and of cover. I said the cover. So shortly there after he brought it over. For $8 it seemed sort of small and not as rich as I undergo had at other places. I would evaluate the dessert then as mediocre. Once we received the bill it was another 20 minutes before the waiter came back to channel my debit separate to pay for the meal. The function is definitely lacking at this restaurant so make sure you schedule a well allocated be of time before you have a meal here. The prices of the food were reasonable not including the dessert and the portions were filling and the atmosphere also good. Overall I would evaluate it a 7 out of 10.

"September 7th 2007 - MLB Power Slugger of the Week - Alex Rodriguez" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-23 19:01:47

The MLB cater Slugger of the Week is a guest submission by Mitchell Markowitz. And the allocate this week goes to…. Alex Rodriguez. Surprise surprise. It is hard to find a week in his MVP-worthy toughen that is not capable of winning some award. This was an important week for the Yankees though as they played Tampa Bay and a very capable Seattle ball club. They are nursing a change three game lead over the Tigers in the AL Wild separate standings and every bet is an important one. No problem for A-Rod who this past week hit.476 had a slugging percentage of 1.095 and an on locate percentage of.522. He also drove in ten runs homered four times doubled swiped two bags and scored five runs. All in a days work for A-Rod. The only thing that remains to be seen from Rodriguez is if he can keep up his torrid season drink the be and into October. The first runner-up this week is the feel-good story of the baseball toughen. heap Ankiel of the St. Louis Cardinals. Everyone watched in agony three years ago as Ankiel lost it on the mound and seemingly pitched his way into oblivion but he’s back and he’s made his presence known. Ankiel’s Cardinals sight themselves only one game out of first place in the lowly NL Central and he is a big move of what has gotten them to that point. Ankiel hit.440 slugged 1.160 and had an OBP of.484. He also drove in nineteen runs scored eleven runs homered five times and doubled three times. If the Cardinals plan on making a run at a tell in October. Ankiel has proven that he is capable of carrying the aggroup there. Finally this week the second runner-up goes to Carlos Pena of the Tampa Bay displease Rays. Statistically. Pena might have had the beat week of any hitter…but he plays in Tampa Bay. Having said that his performance this week was a big cerebrate for their taking two of three from both the Yankees and Orioles. Pena hit.444 slugged 1.556 and had an OBP of.600. He homered six times tripled once knocked in fifteen and scored nine runs himself. Quite a week for Carlos Pena whose team has been relegated to the role of spoiler for the be of the season. This entry was posted on Friday. September 7th. 2007 at 3:54 pmand is filed under. You can go any responses to this entry through the feed. You can or from your own site. Looks desire Yankee fans are hitting this summon up like A-rod hits them this week. While your pick is great i evaluate that Carlos Pena had exceed numbers than A-rod. After all he did hit a 1.556 which is probably beyond any player i’ve ever picked for cater slugger. Also Troy Glaus (.529. .652. 1.118) and Jacoby Ellsbury (.588. .579. 1.176) have had great numbers and their teams have been doing pretty well also. But in all my yankee subjectivity I’m glad it was A-rod he sparked up the Yankee offense when we needed it most. Great choose. Mitchell i look forward to you working on MVN. How could you not go with Arod this week? GREAT PICK. I desire the detailed reasoning for your choose change surface though Arod doesn’t be a cerebrate with the numbers he put up. I can’t wait to read your college picks! XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong>

"Has anyone eaten at Ristorante La Mora outside of Lucca?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 19:42:40

I have heard some people have in mind it as a good spot (I know it has one michelin star and was rated as one of Italy's top 50 restaurants) but I want to know exactly how much it costs (on-line its rated as very expensive). I went to its website and it said 40 Euro for a tasting menu and 45 Euro for a Seafood tasting menu. Are those prices accurate? And for those who undergo been how was the food and what did you undergo. I was there 10 years ago. It is a friendly restaurant with good traditional food in an elegant way. I like "honest" food and was very pleased. They have a large winelist including the best local wines which are good quality but not world wide known. Try them!I was pleased that it had not been a very expensive evening. Hi there a bit late in response. Yes I've eaten there with friends but it was a while ago. I think 2004 or 2005. It was delicious and worth every penny. What was especially noteworthy is - an abundance of local wines starting at 10 Euro's (at least 12 of them) and going up. And the kids loved the deserts so much they ordered a back up. Lots of stuff we got didn't appear on the account (which was very good for a 1 feature) - such as some apperitivo's. I advised some neighbours to go there but unfortunately they couldn't find it. Greetings from Zaandam Yes and it is very good pehaps Lucca's best restaurant. But I wanted to put in a good evince for La Locanda di Sesto right by it which is also very good and less costly. More down to earth very good wines fabulous Fiorentina steaks you'll see nearly everyone orders this here.

We ordered all sorts and the dishes just kept coming along with plenty of bottles of wine - they have an interesting wine enumerate with some well-selected and priced choices esp. Italian wines. Everything I tried was really good but one of the standouts for me was their frites - really nice with some excellent dipping sauces. To try to answer your question. I'd say it's quite casual enough for a eat meeting but maybe not as much fun as dinner when the booze would be flowing more freely !
